Happy Father's Day...

So to celebrate my last day of this school season before summer, I thought I would post the CUTE answers I got from the JK/SK class regarding their amazing Dads!  I found this little questionnaire on pinterest and will definitely do it again!  These kids had me laughing!  Enjoy!!

God's words through a child.

This morning while at school I received a phone call from my mom.  She shared with me that my Grandma had passed away.  It came as a shock because even though she was 88 years old, and even though she had been in the hospital just weeks before and now home, in my mind she was doing great.  My mom assured me she was in a better place and she is where she wants to be.  It made me angry to hear this as I feel I missed saying goodbye, and what about Grandpa who is now without Grandma?   In my sadness of the news and right before recess (the students were quietly at centres) I called my husband and shared with him the news.  I told him how she is now happy in heaven exactly where she wanted to be, that she went peacefully...saying the words that were told to me, but not sure I believed them.  Just saying what would sound "right".
After I hung up the phone, I went to a table to help a student with a worksheet he had questions on.  He looked up at me and said, "is your grandma in heaven now?"
Shocked and then realizing he probably overheard my conversation with my husband on the phone I answered him and said, "yes, she is"  He asked if she had eyes in heaven and if she could see.  I said yes, she can see with brand new eyes.  He said "does she have a new body?"  "Yes, she has a new body".

He then asked me "Is she happy?"....Choking back the tears, I replied with "Yes, she is very happy."

God knew I needed to say the words out loud.  He knew I needed the questions of an innocent child to bring me to the realization that, yes, my Grandma is happy, with a new body, new eyes looking upon her Jesus.  She is dancing with new legs and ultimately...she is happy.  I will miss her, but I have so many amazing memories to hold onto from the times we spent together here on this earth.  I know it won't be easy, but God used the words of a child to turn my moment of sadness into a moment of joy for my Grandma's new life.

I love you Grandma.  Until we meet again...

1-2-3 what will I be....2013 class

Another installment of "what I want to be when I grow up" in the Kindergarten class.

Then we had a visit from a real life NURSE!  She showed us her stethoscope; she weighed us and talked about the things she does for a job.

jobs and stuff...

what does mommy or daddy do for a job?

Well, it's that time again in Kindergarten where I have all the students bring in something that their mommy and/or daddy does for a job.  Without fail I get a chuckle as they try to describe something they seem to know little about.  I love their perspective on what their parents do during the day.  Here are a few of the comments said.  You will see that mommies and daddies do a lot of "STUFF".  See if you can tell what the parent's "job"
is :)

- daddy buys money to get money.  He uses the money to buy furniture and stuff.

- mommy designs stuff on the computer.  She designs towels and stuff.

- my daddy puts labels on buckets at work during quiet time.

- mommy makes picture books for a job...nothing else.  (showed a shutterfly family photo book)

- my mommy cleans dishes and does laundry.  She doesn't do bending much.

- my dad works, he fixes roofs.  When he is done the owners give him money.

- my mommy works for my daddy.  She writes employer checks.

- my daddy is a business worker thing.  He builds kitchens.

- my mommy takes video and pictures with her camera.

- my daddy designs buckets on the computer.

- my daddy works on a computer.  His computer can open and close and he can carry it around.

- my mommy takes video with a camera and tells people the weather on a TV.

Well, thank you to all these wonderful parents for having amazing jobs!  Your kids are super proud of you!

well, THAT'S not something I say everyday...

they're so little ;)
today I took the Kindergarten class to the gym for some phys ed.  They absolutely love the gym and today I decided to teach them a new game.  I knew the badminton nets were set up so I took out the junior racquets and birdies and tried (yes tried) to teach them to hit the birdie with the racquet.  Well, it did not go well and so we played a balancing game with our racquets instead.  They balanced the birdie on their racquet while walking across the gym.  They loved it.  As I was cheering on one of the students I turned around and saw one of the students doing something that was not expected.  I then proceeded to say to said student,

"please, stop licking the badminton racquet."

There are numerous times in my classroom when I say phrases that make me stop and think "that is not something I would say everyday...or ever again for that matter".  Keeps me on my toes, makes my days brighter and full of laughter, and reinforces again, why I love my job.
